I may have mentioned maybe once or twice how much I love Orson Scott Card. This is another fantastic book. I have been taking classes and not reading, but this is the last book I read. The next one I want to read is:

If you want to read more from Orson Scott Card check out his website: http://www.hatrack.com/ It gives a brief synopsis of all his books and links to websites where you can buy them. I really really love Orson Scott Card. I probably should mention that I love Orson Scott Card. I pretty much think that you can't go wrong when you pick up one of his books!

We finished the series a few years ago, and we loved it. I've always liked Greek mythology, and this put a fun, modern twist on the old stories. Don't expect anything terribly profound; they were written middle school kids. They're great for reading out loud on car trips--they made getting stuck in rush hour traffic during our house hunting days bearable. Read them to your eight and nine-year-olds too.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942401254562969013.post-52119768608673808622011-07-27T15:02:00.000-07:002011-07-27T15:07:46.930-07:00Uglies

I stole the picture from BN.com. This book is in a series, but I haven't read the others yet. I will soon. It was EXCELLENT. Mystery, suspense, LOVE STORY, THRILLER. A must read. We stayed up really late many nights reading together. It made roadtrips seem less daunting. The first book is The Final Empire, the second is The Well of Ascension, and the third book is The Hero of Ages. All are well written. There is fighting, torture, chases, escapes, true love, and miracles, but it isn't as funny as The Princess Bride. Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942401254562969013.post-43485723588593209832010-06-22T11:44:00.000-07:002010-06-22T11:50:39.157-07:00On that author note....I love, love, love Anita Stansfield. Her books always catch me in some way. They are always a good cry. Her most recent series has felt the most like my life in some ways, of course I am not independently wealthy like most of her characters, but There is so much in the Dicken's Inn series I love including the parts about Dicken's, one of my favorite authors. The first books is entitled from a line from my favorite Dicken's novel, A Tale of Two Cities... The Best of Times.

Anyway Love her books, have loved collecting them. I have most of them by now, only a few more to go.

We have been listening to them on audiobook at work. This was after Twilight series and an attempt at a James Patterson which was far more than we wanted to hear together in that room at the court house.

Anyway if you haven't read her you should check her out!Emilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15654310617678430253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942401254562969013.post-51047541440712250962010-06-12T20:03:00.000-07:002010-06-14T06:49:14.421-07:00Orson Scott CardOkay so this time I thought I would shake things up and write about an author. I LOVE reading Orson Scott Card!

The latest book I read was "Treasure Box" by Orson Scott Card. This one was a spooky, spine tingling book so if you are looking for a good spooky-but-not-too-spooky book, this one is for you. He writes a lot of science fiction books that I also love. I really love the Ender's books. The first Orson Scott Card books I read were "The Women of Genesis" books. They are also excellent and a good place to start. Anyway Happy reading!Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03236476332321199496noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942401254562969013.post-48417395197999522192010-04-16T19:37:00.001-07:002010-04-20T09:37:04.678-07:00The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
If you know me at all you know that I usually only finish books that I LOVE! I read "The Hunger Games" in a few hours one night. I was so absorbed into the lives of the characters that I had to keep reading more.

The next day I read the sequel, "Catching Fire" which was also awesome. They are really easy to read, have great characters, and a thrilling plot! I can't wait for the last book of the trilogy to come out!

Other books I have been reading lately that I recommend:

The Maze Runner by James Dashner(A very good book. I enjoyed it, but since it was required reading, (and I was still living the good life as a dependent on my parents) I didn't quite appreciate its value. 5 years later, I picked it up again, this time as a wife, mother, and homemaker. I must say this book is fantastic for explaining financial items. It's written in plain English, not like a textbook. It is very easy to read and understand. I have been reading the 2000 edition, but I think she published a new edition last year (This is the one pictured on the left, I think.) She teaches how to reduce debt, save, and even invest. She also talks about the different insurances out there as well. I highly recommend it.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942401254562969013.post-64078640086968753662010-01-13T12:33:00.000-08:002010-01-13T12:36:09.635-08:00Broken Things To Mend
I have grown to love the words of Jeffrey R Holland. Richard Bushman is THE expert on Joseph Smith. You can read more about him here. He is one of the editors of the Joseph Smith Papers. This book gave me a realistic picture of the prophet's life. It showed me that Joseph was a man as well as a prophet. I feel like I know Joseph much better after this read. This book may be a bit different that other books you have read about Joseph Smith because it presents the history warts and all. I personally like his approach because it presents the history as it happened and doesn't smooth over any rough parts. I came away from this book with a sense that Heavenly Father can take an ordinary boy and turn him into something great. Joseph was a good man, a decent man, and an honest man, as well as the prophet of the latter-days.

Hallihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04937432621740021160noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942401254562969013.post-21764970023894957832010-01-06T19:13:00.001-08:002010-01-06T19:13:55.743-08:00PSIf you want to be an author of this blog.... give me your email address so I can invite you.Emilyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15654310617678430253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942401254562969013.post-38978356847396048052010-01-06T19:09:00.000-08:002010-01-06T19:10:59.217-08:00A Place for Bookworms.I was thinking after my last post on my family blog that maybe we needed a place to talk books.
