the mother in me

I just finished reading this book.  It is amazing.  I loved it so much.  I am not yet a mother, but these stories spoke to my heart.  I think every woman should read this book.

Mistborn Trilogy

Brian and I just finished The Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. We stayed up really late many nights reading together. It made roadtrips seem less daunting. The first book is The Final Empire, the second is The Well of Ascension, and the third book is The Hero of Ages. All are well written. There is fighting, torture, chases, escapes, true love, and miracles, but it isn't as funny as The Princess Bride.

On that author note....

I love, love, love Anita Stansfield. Her books always catch me in some way. They are always a good cry. Her most recent series has felt the most like my life in some ways, of course I am not independently wealthy like most of her characters, but There is so much in the Dicken's Inn series I love including the parts about Dicken's, one of my favorite authors. The first books is entitled from a line from my favorite Dicken's novel, A Tale of Two Cities... The Best of Times.

Anyway Love her books, have loved collecting them. I have most of them by now, only a few more to go.

We have been listening to them on audiobook at work. This was after Twilight series and an attempt at a James Patterson which was far more than we wanted to hear together in that room at the court house.

Anyway if you haven't read her you should check her out!

Orson Scott Card

Okay so this time I thought I would shake things up and write about an author. I LOVE reading Orson Scott Card!

The latest book I read was "Treasure Box" by Orson Scott Card. This one was a spooky, spine tingling book so if you are looking for a good spooky-but-not-too-spooky book, this one is for you. He writes a lot of science fiction books that I also love. I really love the Ender's books. The first Orson Scott Card books I read were "The Women of Genesis" books. They are also excellent and a good place to start. Anyway Happy reading!

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

If you know me at all you know that I usually only finish books that I LOVE! I read "The Hunger Games" in a few hours one night. I was so absorbed into the lives of the characters that I had to keep reading more.

The next day I read the sequel, "Catching Fire" which was also awesome. They are really easy to read, have great characters, and a thrilling plot! I can't wait for the last book of the trilogy to come out!

Other books I have been reading lately that I recommend:

The Maze Runner by James Dashner(A very good book. The author is LDS and the book is very clean and well written.)

I also LOVE anything by Orson Scott Card. If you want one that isn't in a series, read "Enchantment." It is really great.

Happy reading everyone!!!

The Heavens Resound

I am currently reading The Heavens Resound: A History of the Latter-Day Saints in Ohio, 1830-1838.  This is a great history of the early saints in Ohio.  You can read more about Milton V. Backman, Jr. here.  I find it very informative about this very special time in LDS church history.
